Selectman Candidate Amanda Grow Launches Community Survey

NORWOOD, MA -- Amanda Grow, a Town Meeting Member from District 7, introduced a new resident survey on President's Day. In an online announcement to her constituents, she also confirmed her appearance on the June 8th, 2020 ballot as a candidate for Selectman in the town election.

“Because I am now running for Selectman, I have widened the survey to allow residents who live outside District 7 to participate too,” Grow said.

Grow, 39, is seeking one of the two open seats on the Board of Selectmen. She was elected by write-in vote for a 3 year term as a Town Meeting Member in 2019. That same year, she was appointed to the town’s Rules Committee. Grow has advocated for transparency and outreach to residents. She publishes a voluntary journal of her votes online, and solicits resident feedback for Town Meeting sessions. The new survey is Grow’s latest project for engaging with residents.

Grow moved to Norwood in 2007 from Ohio, after she was recruited to manage online communities for local video game studio Turbine Inc. The company was acquired by Warner Brothers Entertainment Inc in 2011. Grow continued to lead product teams and communities for the company until 2016, when she was hired as a senior product manager for Standing Stone Games, LLC., where she still works as of 2020.

Around Norwood, Grow serves as the elected Secretary for the Norwood League of Women Voters, and recused herself from this year’s Candidate’s Night planning. In 2019, she was chosen by Senator Mike Rush for the Citizen Legislative Seminar at the Massachusetts Statehouse. She lives with her husband of 14 years, Nick Grow.

“Telling residents about myself is important, but so is asking them what they think,” said Grow. “I may know a lot about technology and civics, but what good is that without hearing from people who live here? Even if you don’t plan to vote for me, your feedback about Norwood matters.”

Residents can visit amandagrow.com/residentsurvey to participate, but Grow says that she also intends to gather responses in person. The survey will be available until March 20, 2020. Questions can be sent to agrow@usa.com.
